Like most yoga teachers, Kirby is called to teach because of her own transformative experience with yoga. Kirby helps others discover their own yoga practice so that they can move towards improved health and increased well-being. She shares the practices of yoga in a safe and accessible way by meeting individuals exactly where they are. She has a genuine passion for linking people with yoga, and does so in a gentle but effective manner. Yoga Therapy with Kirby empowers individuals to develop their own sense of self and incorporate yogic principles into daily life.
Oftentimes people come to a yoga therapist not to learn yoga, but to find relief from a symptom or health condition. Yoga Therapy can help individuals working with chronic pain, neurologic issues, mental health issues, illness, and side effects of aging, among other things.
Yogic models recognize the interconnectedness of the human system and therefore see the individual as a multidimensional being. The practices Kirby develops for you move you towards a greater understanding of yourself and how to move forward in life.
Kirby earned her 200-hour registered yoga teacher (RYT) at the Kripalu School of Yoga in Lennox, MA. Through the Surya Chandra Healing School of Yoga in Orange, VA, Kirby earned a 500-hour RYT, and has dedicated five years to the study of Yoga Therapy under the school’s Director JJ Gormley. Kirby is currently an Apprentice Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT) with JJ Gormley, and is expected to become fully certified in the Spring of 2020.
